The following minimum criteria must be met for a node to qualify as the
destination for a vsvr failover:

=20

*	The node must be in the same filer group as the source node.
*	If the vsvr has volumes configured, the node must have access to
at least one of the volumes.
*	If the vsvr has vlinks configured, the node must have access to
at least one of the vlinks.

=20

If more than one node meets the minimum criteria, selection of a
destination continues as follows:

=20

*	If one node has access to more of the configured volumes than
any other node, it is chosen.
*	If all nodes have access to the same number of volumes, but one
has access to more of the vlinks than the others, it is chosen.
*	If more than one node has access to the same number of volumes
and the same number of vlinks, choose the node with the fewest vsvrs.
*	All other things being equal, use the nodename to decide.

Subject: Question about decision making process for VSVRs in 3 node
clusters -case 7001

=20

Hi All,

Customer, Net One Systems, case 7001, is asking about the decision
making process as to which VSVRs are allocated to which filer in a 3
node cluster when a filer with all the VSVRs initially goes down.

He asks:

"Q1. Is this judged from the number of virtual servers?=20
Or, Do it judge from the load average etc?=20

Q2. Do you have the plan to add a function to decide movement of the
virtual server beforehand to?

We hold a meeting about this case on user and January 31.=20
If there is update by then, I am glad."

=20

He attaches an excel spreadsheet showing his lab test results which I
have attached to this email.

=20

Regards ... Alan.
